HELPFUL TO KNOW
Meeting Location for adult/junior clinics: All adult and junior clinics meet at Holiday Inn Conference Center Area for AM & PM sessions. From there we'll break into separate clinics/groups, meet coaches and head out to the ski trails together. Check your specific clinic schedule for more details on time of each am/pm session.
Coaches – who are they: The coaching staff is composed of an elite group of XC ski professionals which includes retired world class skiers, coaches and professional instructors. Coaches will rotate through groups every ½ day session so you will get exposure to different coaches throughout your clinic. Click here learn more about the individual coaches.
Group Size for On Snow Sessions: For all clinics, our goal is to have similar-ability groups of 6-8 skiers per coach. We feel this allows for optimal learning experiences. In certain instances, we will also break groups by fitness ambition meaning that some folks may want to ski harder than others. Coaches will break camp participants into groups on the first day.
Try before you Buy Demo Equipment: Industry representatives will be offering free demo equipment Wed – Sat. (click here for demo page). This is an excellent opportunity to try the latest in new ski technology. However, this equipment is limited quantity and sizes and we cannot guarantee that your size will be available exactly when you need it for the clinics. For this reason, clinic participants should bring their own skis for the clinics.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR CLINICS
Ski Equipment: All ski clinic participants should bring their own (or rented) classic and skate ski equipment. For classic skis, we recommend classic, wax-able skis as they support skiers learning efficient classic technique. Free Heel and Wheel rents equipment, but they do have a limited supply so plan early.
Waxing & Waxing rooms: We suggest that you check with your lodging property to see if they provide a waxing room. There will also be waxing rooms provided at the festival.
If you are not familiar with waxing skis or want to learn about the latest products and techniques, take advantage of wax clinics on-going throughout the festival (see festival schedule). Because the nature of classic waxing, assistance will be available for all classic clinics from 8:00 – 8:30 AM.
What to bring to each session: During the on-snow clinics, participants should dress in breathable layers. Temperature ranges in November can be varied with mean average temperatures ranging from 10 – 34 degrees Fahrenheit. However, we’ve also woken up to below zero temps on occasion. Our goal is to keep skiers moving during clinic sessions; however there will be some discussion time while coaches present ideas and give feedback. Therefore, you may want to dress in 1 extra layer so that you are comfortable. We suggest that you bring a water bottle/hydration system and an energy bar or gel so that you can keep energy levels consistent.
