Biathlon clinic & race CANCELLED

The Yellowstone Ski Festival, WYSEF, and Altius regret to announce the Biathlon Clinic (scheduled for tomorrow 11/20/12 at 10:30am) and the Biathlon Sprint & Novice races (scheduled for 11/21/12) have been cancelled due to lack of snow.  Per our race policy, partial refunds will be forthcoming once all the expenses have been calculated.  Athletes will be contacted regarding their race entries.

The SuperTour races are still scheduled to occur this weekend.  Our organizing committee is working tirelessly to maintain the highest quality races possible for our skiers.  In addition, we are investigating alternatives that allow a large number of recreational skiers and clinic participants to maintain access to the trails.  While we understand the frustration some skiers are feeling, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to accommodate all of our skiers in the most reasonable fashion.

More information about the SuperTour races will be released Wednesday at noon and Friday at noon.  Until then, think SNOW!

Shuttles to South Plateau

Here are some basic courtesies we ask drivers to observe as they head up to the South Plateau:

1.  Take the Shuttle

Shuttle buses and vans will be running hourly starting at 8:00am on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings.  Park at the Rendezvous trail head and walk to the end of Iris Street (to your right as you look at the Rendezvous arch) to catch the shuttle.  About 45 people can travel per shuttle trip and each trip takes about an hour.  Please plan accordingly if you're on a schedule.

2.  SLOW DOWN

If you choose to drive, do so carefully.  Morning conditions on the road are more often than not icy and with blind corners and steep grades, driving slowly is crucial.  For your safety, it is best to drive a vehicle with appropriate clearance and good tires.

3.  Carpooling

Parking is tight and a lot of skiers want to use the trails.  Please take as many people as possible to alleviate the congestion.

4.  Parking -- Don't be THAT guy

Please park only in the designated areas.  You may have to drive to the top and turn around before finding an available space.  This request if for the safety of all the skiers and drivers.  The Forest Service will be ticketing any vehicles that are parked in fashion that will cause a dangerous situation for other motorists.

5.  Visit Tom

All vehicles should check in with Tom at the start of the road for trail passes and for current road conditions.  He may ask you to wait until the shuttle buses have passed some of the tighter parts of the road; this is for your safety and the safety of all on the road.
