2009 Altius Handcrafted Firearms Biathlon Sprint & Novice Race

Sprint Race

Format This event will be organized following standard IBU rules for the Sprint Race. The Start will be individual at 30 sec intervals. 

Distance Distances will be 10km for Men/Junior Men and 7.5km for Women/Junior Women.  A youth category and distance may be offered if there is enough interest and competitors.

Awards Schedule Prizes provided by Altius Handcrafted Firearms will be awarded to the top 3 Men, Women and Juniors.

Novice Race

This event is open to all interested skiers.  No previous biathlon or shooting experience is necessary. A safety clinic will be held just prior to the start of the race.  All new biathletes are encouraged to participate in the FREE "Try Biathlon" clinic at the range on Tuesday from 10:30am to noon.

Format An abbreviated race will be held after the clinic.  3 km for all classes with 2 shooting bouts. 

Distance Distances will be 3km for Men/Junior Men and 3km for Women/Junior Women.

Awards Schedule Prizes provided by Altius Handcrafted Firearms will be awarded to the top 3 Men and Women.

1030 – 1200: “Try It” Biathlon Demonstration sponsored by the USBA.

1600-1700: Late Registration – Holiday Inn Snow Desk

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

1200-1250:  Sprint Zero – Bib pickup will be at the Biathlon range during the Zero period.

1300: Sprint Start

1400:  Meet at Biathlon Range for the start of the Novice Safety Clinic

1415: Sprint Awards at venue
